BUREAU FOR INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION (BICO)

The Bureau for Industrial Cooperation (BICO) is a registered engineering consulting firm operating under
the College of Engineering and Technology of the University of Dar es Salaam. Applications are now
invited from suitably qualified, dynamic, experienced and performance driven Tanzanians to fill the
following vacancies.

1. Marketing Officer

1.1 Duties and Responsibilities
The marketing officer shall assist the Manager in all matters related to the marketing of Bureau activities.
He/She shall also assist to Market the College as a whole when asked to do so. Specifically, the Marketing
Officer shall have the following duties:
(a) Identify and analyze organization’s strengths and weaknesses and assist the Manager to respond to
opportunities and challenges in the market environment
(b) Assist the Manager to solicit consultancy, engineering services and professional development
programs in the name of the college.
(c) Assist the Manager to prepare brochures and profiles of consultancy, engineering services and
professional development program (PDP) capacities at the College for the purpose of effective
marketing
(d) Assist the Manager to develop and implement strategic marketing plans.
(e) Assist the Manager to set goals for market share and growth
(f) Assist the Manager to develop and implement plans for advertising, promotion and public relations
(g) Assist the Manager to continuously improve the quality of Expressions of Interest, Tender Proposals
and Reports submitted by BICO
(h) Perform any other duties as may from time to time be assigned to him/her by the Manager or
Principal of the College

1.2 Qualifications of the Marketing Officer
(a) First degree in engineering or related field, from a recognized institution;
(b) At least two years relevant work experience.
(c) Ability to communicate fluently in English and Kiswahili.
(d) Computer literacy.
(e) Knowledge in marketing is an added advantage

1.3 Term of Employment of a Marketing Officer
Two year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance

1.4 Salary
Attractive salary package as determined by the BICO Board will be provided.

1.5 Age Limit: 45 Years

2. Cashier cum Accounts Assistant

2.1 Duties and Responsibilities
The Cashier/Accounts Assistant will be responsible for:
(a) Receiving and payment of cash.
(b) Follow up of payments from customers
(c) Examining of cheques from customers
(d) Preparation and recording of receipts
(e) Banking.
(f) Receiving and preliminary examination of job registration forms and job cards
(g) Preparation of payment vouchers
(h) Recording in all books of primary entry
(i) Balancing all books of primary entry
(j) Compilation of daily transaction reports
(k) Compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual income and expenditure reports
(l) Compilation of Accounts using MS Exel and computerized package
(m) Duties as assigned by the Accountant of BICO.
(n) Any other duties as may be assigned by the Manager.

2.2 Qualifications of the Cashier/Accounts Assistant
He/she shall have at least Form VI with the following professional qualifications: Accounting Technology
(ATEC) II or equivalent, plus not less than 2 years of proven working experience in a related field.
Computer literacy is essential.

2.3 Term of Employment of the Cashier/Accounts Assistant
Two year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance.

2.4 Salary
Attractive salary package as determined by the BICO Board depending on qualification and experience will
be provided.

2.5 Age Limit: 45 Years
