In pursuing this vision of vibrant, equitable and resilient rural communities, the Alliance will bring to bear the cumulative knowledge and experience of the WWF and CARE International networks to deliver a holistic approach to sustainable development and a complete package of community-based natural resource management, climate change adaptation, poverty reduction, and gender equality and community empowerment interventions.

JOB SUMMARY
CARE Tanzania seeks a Partnership Development Officer - Conservation who will be responsible for documentation of all program activities, case studies, stories, lessons and experiences related to natural resources management for sharing out and for advocacy purposes. He/she will assist proper implementation of the activities of the program, in collaboration with other team members. PDO is expected to maintain effective working relationships with the community she/he will be serving, other staff working with other CARE-WWF Alliance program initiatives and impact groups, key government partners and NGOs working in the same geographic areas.

The Partnership Development Officer- Conservation (PDOC) will work under the Sustainable Agriculture and Land Management Program Unit (SALAMA) through the CARE-WWF Alliance Nachingwea Program Initiative. CARE-WWF Alliance is currently implementing a long-term project with strategic focus to empowering local communities to sustainably manage their natural resources while improving their livelihoods. This way, the project will ensure that conservation and development linkages are maintained and sustained. The project is implemented in six villages of Nachingwea District and these villages are Mtua, Mbondo, Majonanga, Kiegei B, Lipuyu & Kilimarondo.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
  • Take lead of the execution of Program Initiative’s Documentation, Communication and learning agenda
  • Community Mobilization and organisation of groups to undertake various initiatives
  • Facilitate the execution of CARE-WWF Alliance Program Initiative’s activities Strategy
  • Carryout Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
  • Promote Gender Equality



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Education
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources Management, Conservation Agriculture or any other related degree.
Extensive communications-related training experience, including training expatriate and local communications personnel in media relations, audience targeting and other relevant skills

Desired:
Extensive experience serving rural communities
Experience

Required

  • Minimum 3 years working in conservation and development initiatives;
  • Experience mobilizing rural communities to adopt new developmental initiatives in the areas of Agriculture and sustainable management of natural resources
  • Practical experience in documentation and sharing of lessons as well as application of communication approaches and tools.



Desired

  • Knowledge on community development, climate change issues, human rights, land rights, project planning and management, administration
  • Experience in working with government staff and government authorities
  • Project management experience
  • Strong educational background in a relevant field of study, Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred;
  • Prior experience managing a business, pricing & portfolio margin management and sales channel relationships;
  • Strong analytical skills that can support and validate key pricing, product, and sales decisions;
  • Excellent relationship, influence and communication skills both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, partners and project stakeholders;
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated high achiever with ability to multi-task, prioritize and plan work and manage to deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili and ability to demonstrate confidence and competence in wide variety of settings.
  • Awareness of the informal financial services space in general and informal savings groups in particular (VSLAs, VICOBA, SILC) preferred



TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Good understanding of issues impacting rural communities in the region, particularly around, land,  climate change, natural resource management, sustainable livelihoods, sustainable water management, and sustainable development;
  • Experience using and/or organizing media relations, web/mobile/social media, print and events;
  • An approach to mirror the CARE-WWF Alliance core values: commitment, accountability, respect, effectiveness and diversity;
  • Ability to work and communicate with a range of stakeholders including policymakers and government officials, NGOs, the media, community representatives;
  • Strong ability to engage with communities and capability in being proactive to organize community outreach activities
  • Strong writing, editing, and communications skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, Internet usage and design programs such as Photoshop and In Design
  • Ensuring that gender and power dynamics related to communication are taken into consideration;
  • Ability to thrive in team environments, with a strong understanding of diversity and other cultures. Firm belief in teamwork, gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS and participatory approach and sustainable development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a fluent writing style and good knowledge and practical use of both English and Kiswahili
